In this article, we’re going to be discussing how to properly set a wine refrigerator‘s temperature.

Not only this, but we’ll also talk about the ideal temperatures for your many varieties of wine, for example, your collection of red wine and white wine will need to be stored at different temperatures to keep them in good condition.

It’s important to make sure that your wine is cooler properly, as not only will it implicate on its colour and taste, but if wine isn’t stored at the right temperature, when it’s removed from the fridge, for serving purposes, it will mean that the wine is not at the correct serving temperature.

So, without further ado, let’s talk about setting a wine fridge‘s temperature.

How to properly set a wine fridge‘s temperature

All modern wine coolers have a digital interface that allows users to change settings and program the unit. This is where temperature settings can be changed.

However, you’ll be limited to the level of temperature adjustments that you can make depending on the wine cooler itself, as each model wine fridge will have different temperature capabilities. For example, a thermoelectric wine cooler cannot cool to the same low levels as a compressor-powered wine cooler.

Additionally, you may have a single zone wine cooler, or even a dual zone wine cooler.

If you have a dual zone unit, it means that you’ll be able to make independent temperature adjustments to each storage compartment simultaneously.

Finally, it’s important to consider the location to which the wine fridge will be placed in, for example, will it be stored in a cool wine cellar, or in a kitchen, potentially next to a hot radiator. This will affect your wine cooler temperature settings.

We highly recommend positioning your wine fridge in a cool, dry environment with no direct sunlight, which is why a wine cellar is often the best place. Alternatively, a wine cabinet that has a fridge inside is another great option.

With all of that being said, we highly advise that you read your wine fridge‘s instruction manual to figure out how to make temperature adjustments, instead of trying to guess. This is especially important if you are storing a large collection or some very expensive wines which are irreplaceable, because any mistake could cause for the wine to not be cooled properly. So it’s crucial to get it right from the outset.
